At Teoumaville, we believe that a strong community is one where every resident, regardless of physical or mental ability, has a seat at the table. The Special Need Committee is dedicated to ensuring that persons with disabilities are fully integrated into the social, political, and developmental life of our community.
The Special Need representatives are tasked with several critical responsibilities to ensure our community remains inclusive:
Inclusion in Projects: Providing vital input to ensure all community projects are accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities.
Policy Implementation: Developing and implementing effective programs and policies specifically tailored for persons with disabilities within Teoumaville.
Equal Participation: Ensuring there is equal participation for all members in both political and social community events.
Advocacy with Service Providers: Working with service providers within the community to encourage and monitor inclusive initiatives.
The Constitution officially recognizes the importance of this pillar by allotting specific seats on the Council Committee for Disability Representatives.
Current Committee Representatives:
James Andrew Vora – Special Need Representative.
Christelle George – Special Need Representative.
Under our Community Bylaws, we provide specific protections for those with different needs. For example, in matters regarding property damage (Article 15), the law explicitly accounts for persons living with disabilities or mental illnesses, ensuring that fines are adjusted fairly.
If you or a family member requires assistance, or if you wish to propose an inclusive initiative for the Stage 1 or Stage 2 areas, please reach out to our representatives or attend our next General Meeting.
